Having as defining words, taste and excellence, the House of Daniel Roth has managed, throughout the latest project, to bring into a new light the concept of luxury and, if possible, to transform the already worldwide known brand into a stronger one.

Gerald Roden, CEO of Daniel Roth found his inspiration in “The Card Players”, a work of art signed by the Italian painter Caravaggio. In cooperation with the famous automaton-maker Francois Junod and after a period of 3 years of patient labour, in which the main purpose was achieving perfection, Rodens idea took form.

With a tradition that goes back to the 17th century, automaton watches are pieces of art usually representing a person or an animal in motion.

“Il Giocatore Veneziano” embodies a perfect combination between, not only the complexity of its mechanism and perfection but also between style and tradition, elements that manage to transform a simple and useful watch into a delicate symbol of elegance.

The watch represents the image of a dicer at the dial and as the dice player juggles the dice in his goblets two disks turn behind the dial. Due to the sample generator, the random movements of the disks produce 504 possible combinations turning the chances of winning against the automaton close to 0, but always offering you the chance to try again.

Proving great patience, dedication and respect towards the client, the small team consisting of 30 professional watchmakers creates beauty in order to reveal time as being less cruel. “They celebrate time which they build monuments. They return to time an infinitesimally small portion of all its gifts…the measurement of seconds, minutes and hours of life!”

With a crocodile leather strap, a snap clasp made of pure 18k white gold, hexagonal shape and roman numerals, the entirely hand-crafted “il giocatore veneziano” is, for the connoisseurs, an indisputable symbol of luxury and style.
