Corum Admiral’s Cup Leap

Posted under Corum

From the first watch created for the Admiral’s Cup in 1960, the designers from Corum has tried to accomplish the perfect watches that can ensure a true legacy of the famous collectable watches that has inspired millions of people about the racing world that is the Admiral’s Cup. The manufacturers from Corum have tried to push the watch to new limits and developments every year by creating new and strong materials but also revolutionary precise mechanisms.

In 2008 the designers have push them to a new limit and created the new watch for Admiral’s Cup that has kept the same idea like the previous watches and that is done in the same still with the twelve sided bezel filled up with diamonds and sapphire crystals, a design that transforms the new watch into a authentic sport icon. Also the watch is tooled up with a revolutionary blocking system. This system assures that when it is activated no other functions of the watch can be adjusted because the watch is equipped with top flight measuring instruments.

The heart of the watch is the new CO-895 that was created especially by Corum but with the help of the La Joux Perret. The watch includes 48 diamonds and frequency of 4 Hz and the vibrations per one hour can reach 28 800 beating. This system also includes two barrels, and one of these barrels is entirely dedicated to the jumping seconds. The jumping seconds’ device that is incorporated in this time piece is a totally new revolutionary system and to a better description of it, there is a second’s indicator that it is screwed down with the help of two titanium screws on both edges. The beauty of this system is that the indicator is connected to a jumping spring that actually push the indicator up every second and because it’s elastically properties this material resist up to 20 years to this process.

The entire mechanisms of the watch are sports but the main attractive part of this watch is the jewels. Actually the entire surface of the watch is graved with jewels, diamonds and crystals, but the sapphire crystal glass that protets the watch is playing a very important role and that role is an anti-reflexive one. You can imagine that when the light reach the surface of those stones the reflections will make the watch impossible to be read but because of the glass the reflections are cut down to an impressive 99 percent because of its concave shape. The hour indicator flange is not engraved with numbers from 1 to 12 but there are figures that where used by the International Signals Code in the old navy. The diameter of the watch is 48 millimeters and the secondary systems like the 30 minutes chronometer and the jumping seconds’ system are integrated on the surface of the watch without affecting the visibility of the majors’ indicator.
If you see the watch here for the first time you will certain think that this is not a sport watch because of the precious stones and the elegant looks.

Impressed or not the watch is used by many sports participants and it has never disappoint but the price that you actually have to pay for this watch is around 28000 euros but it will not disappoint you because it can be a gracefully elegant but in the same time a great piece to help you with the competitive skills.
