Occhio Ripetizione Minuti

Posted under Grisogono

The Occhio Ripetizione Minuti by DeGrisogono was first unveiled in 2005 and it was considered to be a breakthrough for the brand, its most select and ambitious creation.

A nice piece to add to the collection, DeGrisogono’s Occhio Ripetizione minuti has now been recreated and it features a magnificent case decorated with 154 baguette-cut diamonds of 18 carats.

This Queen of complications, as Occhio Ripetizione Minuti is titled, includes a mechanism which has been inspired by the one of a reflex camera. Thus, it is formed by twelve mobile titanium blades making its dial look like a diaphragm which opens and closes showing the movement while the chimes are striking. Compared to the diaphragm subassembly of a reflex camera, the one of Grisogono Occhio Ripetizione Minuti is more compact and resistant, although the principle remains the same.

Without any doubt DeGrisogono’s Occhio Ripetizione Minuti has an exclusive mechanism. When the minute repeater is triggered, the synchronized movement of the twelve blades allows the diaphragm to open, and it closes as soon as the hours, quarters and minutes haves stricken on three gongs.

DeGrisogono’s creation has a curved sapphire case back (secured by six screws) which shows off the movement of the three hammers on the gongs and give you the opportunity to admire the movement’s exclusive decorative patterns.

The sharply curved sapphire crystal that protects the face of DeGrisogono’s Occhio Ripetizione Minuti exposes the play of racks, levers and springs. The movement’s bridges and plates are anthracite gray, the screw heads are brightly polished whereas the moving parts have the natural color of their material.
