With a history of over 200 years, Girard-Perregaux has had a responsibility towards creating unique and reliable timepieces that could be compared with the masterpieces from its early beginnings and this responsibility has never been broken. Investing in the research and development of the watch making artistry, Girard Perregaux has managed to gain a reputation for being amongst the few brands on the market to provide valuable timepieces in the most exquisite designs. A well deserved reputation I’d say after years of complete devotion to watch crafting, mechanisms, and innovative design.

The collections presented by Girard-Perregaux are known to be successful worldwide, as they always display newer and more interesting timepieces than the previous collections. The watch we’re presenting today follows the success of the first Tourbillon, presented in an exhibition in Paris back in 1867. At the famous Paris Universal Exhibition in 1867 Girard-Perregaux introduced to the world of watch manufacturing the Tourbillon with three gold bridges. It was obviously the work of a pioneer and ever since, the brand of Girard-Perregaux has continued to improve this device into becoming what we’re now referring to as the new Girard-Perregaux Bi-axial Tourbillon.

In an attempt to improve time keeping precision, Girard- Perregaux has seen that the accuracy of a watch’s mechanism is influenced by the Earth’s gravity and so he came up with the tourbillon idea, a revolutionary idea that would change forever the world of watch manufacturing. Many years after, the brand presents the new Bi-axial Tourbillon equipped with two concentric cages, which permit multi-dimensional rotations of the regulating part. The internal cage carries out a complete rotation in 45 seconds, while the external cage executes one revolution in 1 minute and 15 seconds, this system generation per total a full revolution in 3 minutes and 45 seconds. Everything about this beautifully designed mechanism can be admires through the transparent case back made of sapphire crystal. It is a pretentious mechanism indeed, which manages to impress even the most experienced eyes in watch manufacturing.

Like all time masterpieces, this Girard-Perregaux Bi-axial Tourbillon was hand assembled and consists of 110 components. It takes talent and patience to create such unique timepiece, but for the person who creates it the time spent is worthwhile. The designers opted for a blend of gold, steel and titanium as main materials, providing an extremely elegant design. The watch offers a 72 hours power reserve and as recognition of its value it was awarded with the First Prize offered by the Neuchatel Observatory.

The new Girard-Perregaux Bi-axial Tourbillon is available on a black alligator leather strap fitted with a pink gold folding clasp, matching the case of the watch made completely of pink gold. This new line of Girard-Perregaux Bi-axial Tourbillon watches is limited to 33 pieces, so you’d better hurry up if you want to wear a Bi-axial Tourbillon on your wrist.
