Girard – Perregaux is well – known for being a very good watch manufacturer and surprising the watch lovers from all over the world with his new exquisite collections. So, this year in order to celebrate the 71st edition of the Bol d` Or Mirabaud, he introduced the Laureato Bol d` Or Mirabaud Chronograph 2009. .Girard – Perregaux has chosen to be the sponsor of the Bol d` Or Mirabaud for the third year running and impressed the audience with a watch specially manufactured for this event and dedicated to the biggest inland regatta in Europe. But the Swiss watchmaker was not the only one who brought something new at this edition; the Chaux – de – Fonds manufacture launched a Sea Hawk Pro 1000 m model which was exclusively created for the 2007 edition of the Bol d` Or Mirabaud. So, this year as with last, the Laureato Bol d` Or Mirabaud chronograph focused on emphasizing the brand` s innovative approach. Every time Girard – Perregaux decides to create a new model of timepiece his main objective is to find similarities between manufacturing a watch and other sport activities that some of us enjoy practicing in our free time. When elaborating this series of watches he wanted to show what values watch making and sail competition share in common: they both demonstrate perfect mastery in each art, great patience and passion, qualities that are so necessarily for a skipper as well as for a watch making in order to achieve their goal.

         When developing this new model Girard – Perregaux applied at the help of the Girard – Perregaux Product Creation and Development department and in the end he was able to launch a great success – the Laureato. Girard – Perregaux has learnt from his own experience that is extremely important to extract the best idea from a series and then develop it with the help of other partners like Luigi Macaluso – President of the watch making manufacture – and in the end to leave it in the hands of the company` s Process engineering and R&D. After this stage is completed, the concept is tested in all its aspects together with some prototypes which are gathered in one place and studied. The third phase of the process consists of manufacturing and assembling the watch within the Manufacture and in the end the final product is put on the market.

         The Laureato is especially realized to suit nautical activities and in order to strengthen this idea some essential parts of the watch have been covered with rubber and by this I refer at the bezel, the crown and the pushers. The case is made of titanium which is commonly used in sailing for its capacity of not corroding and having a strong resistance.

         Another innovative capacity of the timepiece is represented by its chronograph which has been adapted to competition so that the fly back function could be more functional – it is used for getting accurate different racing time readings. Nevertheless, another vital functionality constitutes in the chronograph` s central hand which is provided with a precise countdown for the crucial ten minutes preceding the start of regattas: this time is highlighted in the zone between 12 and 2 o`clock, with the first five minutes shown in blue and the next five minutes indicated in red.
