Jaquet Droz is one of those brands of watches interested in maintaining the best echoes of tradition while focusing on breaking the technical and aesthetical frontiers when creating new timepieces. The timepieces presented by Jaquet Droz are of the finest quality and design, timepieces of extraordinary value that are highly appreciated by the watch connoisseurs all over the world.
Baselworld 2009 was the event where most of the famous watch manufacturing brands have competed into exhibiting that unique timepiece that would be considered the major breakthrough in the watch manufacturing artistry, that highly innovative timepiece whose name would be on everybody’s lips for a whole wide year, or maybe forever.
Jaquet Droz has entered the competition with three outstanding wristwatches released on the market in limited editions. Only 88 in number, the watches are seemingly similar in appearance, each of them displaying a design based on materials such as black ceramic, red gold and black rubber for the strap.
One of these three watches is called Grande Seconde SW Rouge and represents Jaquet Droz’s tribute to sporty designs. We’re living speedy times and whatever we might create expresses one way or the other the idea of action, of movement, of sports. The mixture between black and red is quite spectacular, offering a sporty and masculine look to the whole design of the watch. The case of this Grande Seconde SW Rouge watch is made of red gold, material which is used for the three-dimensional ring as well. Contrasting with the dark black strap, the red gold material is also used for the plates, the horns, the hands and the folding clasp. The detailing exposed on the dial is luminescent, allowing a perfect visibility even during the night.
Another exquisite timepiece presented by Jaquet Droz at the Baselworld 2009 exhibition is the Les Douze Villes watch, whose major quality is the function to display different time-zones. Especially designed for those who travel much, the watch displays on its dial the incredible number of 12 cities in a fairly limited space. The Grand Feu enameled dial is equipped with two windows, one displaying the time of the chosen city at the 6 o’clock position, while the other located at the 12 o’clock position displays the local time.
The collection Hommage La Chax-de-Fonds 1738 by Jaquet Droz uses as an element of surprise the chronograph a rattapante, an element which makes of a normal wristwatch a statement of technical innovation. Along with the tachymeter function, this watch can measure two events starting at the same time, but whose duration might differ. This highly reviewed watch is made of a red gold 45 mm in diameter case, with a black Grand Feu enamelled dial equipped with a date window at the 12 o’clock position.
The wristwatches presented by Jaquet Droz at the Baselworld 2009 even were, as many of us would have expected, of a huge success and if we were to guess what the recipe of success behind this brand is, the answer would most certainly be passion.
