What better opportunity for a brand to introduce its latest timepieces than the SIHH 2010 event, which this year has brought together some of the most innovative watches of the past few decades, with daring designs and unthinkable progressive mechanisms.

        Amongst the participating brands we can mention Montblanc, whose performance on the stage of watch manufacturing has been outstanding over the years, and this time it made no exception. The new timepiece revealed by Montblanc is called the Montblanc Timewriter 1 Metamorphosis Watch and was produced in the context of a project designed to encourage young professionals of the watch making industry to develop their own mechanism and design for a watch, all viewed as a sustainable project for the improvement and development of the watch manufacturing tradition.

        Behind the creative process of making the new Montblanc Timewriter 1 Metamorphosis Watch were two young watch makers whose driven passion for Haute Horology managed to give birth to this exquisite timepiece. The names of the two are Johnny Girardin and Franck Orny, who maintained the rigorous standards of technical performance, while adding a touch of modernity and innovation to the design of the watch. Based on the chronograph calibre MBM 16.29, the new Montblanc Timewriter 1 Metamorphosis Watch offers the possibility of providing the functions of either a chronograph, or a wrist watch.

        Regarding the design, we can say that they two designers have went for an unconventional shape of the case, being round in the upper part and a little but prolonged in the lower part. The case measures 47 mm in diameter and it’s crafted from 18 carats white gold. The black dial features a sub-dial located at the top of the case for the hours that use Roman numerals as hour markers and another sub-dial providing the function of showing the date, located at 6 o’clock.

        It takes just about 15 seconds for the new Montblanc Timewriter 1 Metamorphosis Watch to turn from a watch into a chronograph and the other way around, this technique being quite familiar to car constructors.

        The hands adorning the dial are made of stainless steel and are luminescent coated, and the other detailing viewed on the dial is on red, making a beautiful contrast with the silvery case, and black dial.

        The highly sophisticated mechanism of the Montblanc Timewriter 1 Metamorphosis Watch comprises 252 individual parts, and the counting goes up to 567 components.

        This new watch offered by Montblanc was distributed in a limited number of 28 pieces; it has 50 m water resistance and is available at 195,000 Euros.
