Movado is taking its jobs seriously as a trend-setter of watch manufacturing and its latest releases have proven the brand’s commitment to explore new designs and new techniques. This time, Movado has tried to revive the look of the 1960’s with the creation of a new line which puts a great price on colors, art and youthful design. The psychedelic era of the 1960’s was a great inspiration for artists worldwide and some of the artworks created back then are regarded as pieces of extreme originality and artistic freedom, whether we’re talking about music, literature or visual art. It was the years of breaking the canons, of breaking the rules, the years of social emancipation and escape from the strict and the conventional. This era of counterculture is to be celebrated by Movado with its latest collection of watches that goes by the name of Kenny Scharf Artists’ Series Timepieces.
As powerful as a new model can be, so it’s a vintage one nowadays. In fact, the concept of vintage has been gaining more and more popularity as people use their creative outlets to reshape and revive old design concepts from the past. The new Artists’ Series Collection is designed differently from the Movado style, as this house of watch manufacturing is famous for its extremely simple and elegant dials, which most of the times are equipped with just a single dot symbol and the main handers indicating the functions of the watch. This time, Movado has gone for a more youthful and dynamic design, which not only that celebrates the era of the 1960’s, but it also brings a tribute to the indie fashion of today. The vintage design is more than appreciated, as people have made a cult for vintage cars, clothes, watches or even interior designs.
The name of Movado has a special meaning in the Esperanto language, and it refers to movement and mobility. Movado’s meaning, always in motion, suggests the fact that these timepieces are created to pass the test of time, are created in the classiest designs possible as to remain fashionable even in the most progressive and modern times. The watches employ refined lines of design, of the most extreme finesse and slimness. Most of the watches presented by Movado on the market of watch manufacturing have enjoyed a great deal of appreciation, being regarded as masterpieces of design and technical innovation by the watch connoisseurs.
The new Movado Artists’ Series Timepieces Collection approaches the design theme based on Kenny Scharf’s paintings. The watches are made of stainless steel and have a very slim case, hinting to that vintage look. They are equipped with a Swiss quartz movement sheltered by a case covered in stainless steel. The strap of these watches is quite colorful, matching the colors present in the dial. For this collection there have been used 6 of Kenny Scharf’s paintings, some of the watches being produced in limited editions.
Joyful and extremely humorous, the new Movado Artists’ Series Timepieces Collection was really appreciated by youngsters and people with artistic preoccupations worldwide.
