On its quest to perfection, the founding father of Seiko, Kintaro Hattori, has managed to set up a business that would soon become one of the top brands in watch manufacturing, due to the passion and dedication of the people behind it. Making a dream come true, those people have worked hard and have put their time, talent and effort into creating amazing timepieces that nowadays enjoy global notoriety, because either their design or the amazing technical functions provided. The new model introduced by Seiko goes by the name of Seiko Ananta Spring Drive Chronograph Watch and it’s not just a beautiful sporty watch, but also an extremely functional one too.
The design is what firstly attracts your attention at the new Seiko Ananta Spring Drive Chronograph Watch considering it is a powerful, masculine timepiece that approaches a rather elegant appearance due to its stainless steel case and bracelet. The watch features a stainless steel case with a bezel covered in PVD coating to provide a sportier, more modern look. The bezel is equipped with a tachymeter scale, a function specific to analog watches converting elapsed time in seconds per unit to units per hour.
The dial of this watch is quite interesting and although it has many functions to display, all these functions are placed neatly to assure a perfectly legible dial. The first element of surprise is the fact that the dial features vertically aligned sub-dials for the functions of the chronograph. At three o’clock we can see displayed a date window and at 6 to 8 o’clock we can see an open semi-circle that provides the measurement for the power reserve function. This watch can provide up to 72 hours of power reserve, along with its generous water resistance of 100 meters. The hands of the dial are either crafted from stainless steel, the one for hour and minute, or use a red color theme for the rest of the functions. The dial doesn’t recur to any Arabic or Roman numerals specifications, the hour markers being made of stainless steel bars.
Even though this Seiko Ananta Spring Drive Chronograph Watch was released last year, it will still be in the center of attention for a couple of more years, due to its powerful design and its amazing technical engineering, the Caliber 5R86. The name chosen by Seiko is not random, as Anata has the meaning of “infinite” in Sanskrit, hoping this watch would have the same effect in the watch manufacturing tradition.
The watch comes with a stainless steel bracelet equipped with a folding clasp. Apart from its appealing dial, this watch has also an interesting crown and lateral pushers that draw the attention immediately, making from this watch a fine contemporary timepiece aligned with the actual trends.
The new Seiko Ananta Spring Drive Chronograph Watch is available at a retail price of 5,500 euros, and although it’s not cheap, we assure you this investment is definitely worthwhile.
