Like any marketing campaigns, this one too required a series of events and public gatherings to remain known as the Seiko’s Quartz Astron Watch 40th anniversary. The successful story of this timepiece begun back in 1959 with a project commonly known in the world of watch manufacturing as the Project 59A, a project that would developed later in what the whole world knows as the Quartz watch.          Functionality wrapped in the most attractive design is what took the story of Seiko Quartz Astron Watch further than the brand’s expectation. Referred to as one of the landmarks of watch manufacturing, the Seiko Quartz Astron Watch bases its mechanism of the “piezi-electric” effect. The first models equipped with this technology were considerably big in size, the first clock measuring 2.1 m x 3 m, being later refined into what we’re seeing today as the 3.74 centimeters device.

The reduced in size models released back in the days by Seiko features a case made of 18 carat gold and were produced in a limited edition of only 100 pieces. The year of 1969 was definitely a turning point for the tradition of watch manufacturing, when Seiko introduced its breakthrough watch on the 25th of December, a timepiece able to provide accurate time measurement of 5 seconds a month, a value which left behind 100 times any available timepiece introduced so far. The quartz movement was definitely a pioneering mechanism that’s worth every moment of celebration, and Seiko is worth every compliment and word of gratitude for providing such prosperous contribution to the watch manufacturing tradition.

Considering the fact that Seiko will present its latest version of the Seiko Quartz Astron Watch at the Baselworld 2010 event, you can be sure that the exhibition is sure to be another moment of history, a moment where long-lasting brands of watch manufacturing will acknowledge Seiko’s amazing contribution in terms of watch making.
