STOWA Flieger Airman Automatic

Posted under Stowa

The Flieger collection introduced by STOWA definitely lives up to the good reputation of its brand, as it presents timepieces characterized by amazing simplicity and unique design. A STOWA timepiece is recognized even by a novice watch enthusiast, as this company has always been faithful to its chosen design lines, ever since the foundation of the brand by Walter Storz, back in 1927. With its standards high and its target of customers well-set, STOWA has managed to create collections that even nowadays are regarded as landmarks of watch manufacturing, one of those being the Flieger Line dedicated to pilot’s watches.

The star-timepiece of the Flieger Collection is the Flieger Automatic Watch or simply the Airman Automatic, a watch that fits the design of the rest presented under this collection, the only detail of differentiation being restricted to its date function, displayed through a small window at 6 o’clock.

Just as the simple STOWA Flieger Automatic Watch, the Airman Automatic is made of a stainless steel case measuring 40 mm in diameter, its dimensions providing a masculine and sporty appearance. The stainless steel case is 10.20 mm thick, and is covered in sapphire crystal, both its case back and case top.

The discreet look is achieved by the black dial featuring Arabic numerals to indicate the hours and blue steel hands, every detailing from this watch being luminescent coated. This assures the best level of visibility both at night and at day, making from this watch the perfect instrument for pilots or people preoccupied in sports in general. The element of surprise in comparison with the traditional STOWA Flieger Automatic Watch is the date function, presented at 6 o’clock. A date function is usually very reliable and necessary to a watch, and the fact that this one displays this function so discreetly can only show that the designers from STOWA do have a refined taste and aim to sophisticated simple designs.

The new STOWA Airman Automatic Watch bases its functions on a ETA 2824-2 movement, which can be seen through the transparent case back of the watch. The movement features a STOWA inscribed rotor, adding a touch of technical excellence to the mechanism. If a customer would choose a better movement, such one certified by C.O.S.C, this would cost him an extra 177 euros.

Regarding its strap, the new STOWA Airman Automatic comes on two leather strap versions, one embracing a vintage look given by the riveted leather, while the other is a standard leather strap. The price for a STOWA Airman Automatic Watch reaches 530 Euros.
