Posted under Swiss

Being the epitome of high-class elegance, Jaeger Le-Coultre Master Grande Ultra Thin symbolizes the well-known Swiss craftsmanship when it comes to clock-making.

In the Swiss manufactures the cult of creating high-performance watches has always been present along with the desire of self overtaking and perpetual improvement.

Among the Swiss brands, fighting for supremacy, it has always been Jaeger Le-Coultre and we must remember, for example, his world record model of only 1.38 mm. the thinnest watch ever built.

A masterpiece of Swiss craftsmanship, created by one of the major Swiss watch houses, the model we present to you now, is a clear manifestation of sensitivity and almost a pure state of art.

Starting our analysis from an aesthetic point of view, we can say that the watch is characterized by absolute purity of lines, by sharp classicism, almost minimalist dial, an exceptionally precise movement which doesn’t give up the technological development that has recently been implemented in the now-days clock-making.

The box is carved in 18 carat pink gold, and it has 40mm. in diameter, without the crown, it exudes harmony, simplicity and elegance; moreover it has two sapphire crystals, a slightly convex front and a total thicknesses of 8.80 mm.

The crown has 4.98 mm. exactly the right size to line up the clock, and create a great smooth for the drive.

Details of the crown, position and adjustment: The watch has poor details, the base line of its design is the minimalism which offers the watch an air of elegance and harmony, it has hourly rates charged, sub-divisions for minutes, and small semi-spheres at 12, 3, 6 and 9 in the sub-seconds dial, it is made of low-relief, and is equipped with the corresponding sub-divisions for seconds.

All this complex design features are topped with the house logo: the two initials or the “anchor” of Jaeger-Le-Coultre.

The dark brown crocodile strap fits easily, but the lock, butterfly type, it’s a bit difficult to open and close.  In spite of this minor inconvenience, the slim elegant execution is flawless.
The new 896 caliber automatic Jaeger-Le-Coultre, 3.98 mm. thick, is derived from the 899 and up to date as far as the technological innovations are concerned. Its frequency is 28,800 alternations / hour, 43 hours running reserve, 242 parts and 34 rubies.

In the full-size photos below, you can appreciate the beautiful circular finishing that Ctes de Genve has done and the back of the bezel box, the locking screws and the logos, labels, and other details.

Moreover we can emphasize on the spiral-free (free sprung balance) and the consequent adjustment of the watches inertial motion with a technique increasingly used by large watch-making houses. And secondly the ceramic balls bearings application (including zirconium oxide), that doesnt require lubrication or maintenance, and survives longer then the steel balls.

In the pictures below you can see the two bearings with ceramic balls which bring such an unusual brightness, different from the steel balls we find in other calibers:Jaeger Le-Coultre Master Grande Ultra Thin

The rotor load is on the outside of a 22 carat gold piece which facilitates the loading dock of the real. We must note the ease with which the rotor moves even with the real dock fully loaded.

All in all we can say that it is a Swiss mechanical masterpiece, the proof of few hundred-year Swiss quality and tradition, a watch that almost touches perfection.
