The much anticipated event of Baselworld 2009 brought with itself some of the most delightful timepieces of our generation, with impressive improvements in terms of technical performance and with interesting design features meant to show that in this industry of watch manufacturing progress is nothing without innovation.

        The famous brand TAG Heuer has brought its contribution with the presentation of two of its most progressive watches, one dedicated to the famous Gulf Oil, while the other being especially designed to meet the requirements of women worldwide. TAG Heuer is one of those brands unafraid to take chances and to explore new and different perspectives, in order to come up with concepts that would actually revolutionize the techniques of watch manufacturing and the main functions of the traditional timekeeping instruments.

        This year, in 2009, the Baselworld event received its guests with some watches that are to be spoken of for some while in 2009 and in the following years, as the timepieces presented this year are samples of excellence, innovation and technical proficiency.

        TAG Heuer’s one special contribution was the new TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre 12 Chronograph Gulf Limited Edition Watch, a watch designed to celebrate the fruitful partnership between TAG Heuer and Gulf Oil. Two names reunited could only attract greatness and the new watch presented by TAG Heuer is heading the exact concept, of greatness and of landmark in watch manufacturing. It was decided by the high representatives from TAG Heuer that the new Monaco Calibre 12 Chronograph Gulf Limited Edition Watch would be distributed in a limited edition of 5000 timepieces, a relatively small numbered compared to the other TAG Heuer’s watch collections. This collection was definitely regarded as a hit not only at Baselworld 2009, but on the watch market as well.

        With a 39 mm in diameter case made of stainless steel, the new TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre 12 Chronograph Gulf Limited Edition Watch approaches a sporty and modern appearance. The rectangular shape of the watch is specific to most of the TAG Heuer’s watches and hints to a certain level of masculinity and seriousness. Covered in sapphire crystal, both the top and the case-back, this new watch provides the best mechanism visibility, while making sure that the inner workings of the watch are safely guard.

        The dial has a vintage effect as it uses as main inspiration the old model of Porsche Gulf 917K, displaying an orange and blue stripe on the grey dial. The date window is located at the 6 o’clock position, the traditional function of hour, minute and second in the middle of the dial and two other sub-dials, one indicating the small-seconds counter, while the other the minute counter. The watch is equipped with the TAG Heuer‘s exclusively designed Calibre 12 Automatic Chronograph Movement and is available on a standard black alligator leather strap, to achieve that casual sporty style.
